At our substance events we have a strong focus on our resident DJs, despite or even more because of our international line ups. That a resident DJ is defining the musical style of the night, is keeping up the continuing quality in music and is supporting the developement, we want to create a steady resident structure and support an at the present missing resident culture. With Philipp Otterbach and Vladimir Ivkovic we have two strong local DJs who can constantly keep up this high level of music and prepare our guest a musical frame to feel welcome in. Vladimir and Philipp are two artists who convince with their unique style, high quality and talent and brilliantly match with each other in their work as DJs. Vladimir Ivkovic Normally Vladimir is working at Important Records Klangwelt in Essen, where he is responsible for stock and ordering of the field of techno and electro music. But due to his excellent DJ sets, full of surprising variety, in some of the best techno clubs in Europe (e.g. WMF / Berlin, Ostgut / Berlin, FUSE / Brüssel, Pulp / Paris, Doornroosje / Nijmegen, Link / Bologna, ...), Vladimir became wider known than just in the local Ruhr area. In his sets he mixes more than 20 years of electronic music's history together with the latest tracks, always guaranteeing one thing: spinning records in a unique unpredictable way, full of energy and quality. Simply a monster behind the turntables. Philipp Otterbach Next to his work for substance and a number of bookings in regional clubs (Harpune, Ehrenhof, Anaconda, ..), our second resident Philipp from Düsseldorf recently did a small radio- and club tour in England. As usual there he convinced with his talent and unconvetional DJ-style, which permanently forms the sound of substance. Philipp's unusual, still inviting mixes combine electro, techno, house and electronica, giving an impression of his much wider spread musical background beyond dance music. Aside from his job as a graphic designer, Philipp constantly works on his studio productions, which can just as hardly be put into a fixed category as his DJ sets for substance. |
